PER — Practical Experience Requirement
ACCA membership requires 36 months of relevant, supervised work experience — called the Practical Experience Requirement (PER). This can be completed alongside your exams.
ACCA PER (Practical Experience Requirement) is 36 months of relevant, supervised work experience in a finance or accounting role. It is mandatory for ACCA membership. PER involves recording approved Performance Objectives (POs) in MyACCA, signed off by your workplace mentor/supervisor.
↗ ACCAACCA PER requires 5 core performance objectives (POs) and 4 additional POs from a choice of 17. Total: 9 performance objectives. These are mapped to your actual work tasks and signed off by a recognised supervisor/mentor at your workplace.
↗ ACCAYes. PER can be completed concurrently with your exams — you do not need to wait until all exams are done. In fact, most ACCA students do both simultaneously, making it possible to apply for ACCA membership soon after passing the last exam.
Relevant experience includes: finance, accounting, audit, tax, management accounting, financial reporting, treasury, risk management, or similar roles in any organisation — employer does not need to be ACCA-approved. The supervisor who signs off your POs must be a relevant professional (CA, CPA, ACCA member, or equivalent).
Log in to MyACCA → My Experience → Practical Experience. Record your role, employer, and progress against each Performance Objective. Your supervisor reviews and signs off completed objectives digitally within MyACCA. You can record PER before, during, and after your exams.
