Why Answer Structure Matters as Much as Content

Two students write the same facts in a Company Law answer. Student A writes in continuous paragraphs with no headings. Student B uses the ISSUE-PROVISION-APPLICATION-CONCLUSION format with section numbers highlighted. Student B scores 8/10. Student A scores 5/10. Same knowledge, different presentation. The IPAC Framework for Law Questions

I — Issue: State what the legal question in the problem is. "The issue here is whether X can be appointed as a director given his prior conviction."
P — Provision: Cite the relevant section. "As per Section 164(2) of the Companies Act 2013, a person is disqualified if..."
A — Application: Apply the provision to the facts. "In the given case, X was convicted in 2022 for 6 months, which triggers Section 164(2)(b)..."
C — Conclusion: State the answer clearly. "Therefore, X cannot be appointed as a director of any company for a period of 5 years from the date of conviction."

For Numerical Questions (Accounting / CMA)

Write a clear heading: "Computation of Total Income for AY 2025-26"
Use columns: Particulars | Amount (₹)
Show each step — do not jump from raw data to final answer
Write the relevant section or formula used
State your conclusion: "Therefore, Total Tax Liability = ₹1,25,000"

For Theory/Descriptive Questions

Opening sentence: Define the concept
Body: 3–5 bullet points with subheadings — avoid writing dense paragraphs
Statutory reference where applicable
Closing: one-line conclusion or significance
