CMA Foundation is the entry level of the Cost and Management Accountancy course offered by ICMAI. With 4 papers and an objective-cum-descriptive format, it is achievable with consistent preparation. Clearing CMA Foundation opens the door to CMA Intermediate — one of the most employable professional qualifications in finance and management.

120-Day Study Plan
- Days 1–30: Paper 1 — Economics: demand, supply, market structures, national income, monetary policy. Management: planning, organizing, leadership, motivation theories.
- Days 31–60: Paper 2 — Accounting: journal entries, trial balance, final accounts, depreciation methods, bank reconciliation, bills of exchange.
- Days 61–90: Paper 3 — Laws: Contract Act basics, Sale of Goods Act, Negotiable Instruments. Ethics: ethical theories, code of conduct, corporate governance basics.
- Days 91–110: Paper 4 — Mathematics: simple and compound interest, permutations, equations, inequalities. Statistics: mean, median, mode, standard deviation, correlation.
- Days 111–120: Full revision + 2 mock papers across all 4 subjects.
Study Tips by Paper
- Paper 1 (Economics): Learn demand-supply graphs and elasticity formulas. Management theories — Taylor, Fayol, Maslow — are always asked.
- Paper 2 (Accounting): Practice makes perfect. Solve journal entries and final accounts daily.
- Paper 3 (Laws): Learn definitions and essentials of Contract Act — offer, acceptance, consideration, capacity.
- Paper 4 (Maths): Compound interest, CI/SI shortcut formulas, and correlation coefficient — these are highest yield.
